Engaging students in research as part of a class is an extremely effective high-impact practice and form of experiential learning. Having students participate in elements of the research process from asking questions to synthesizing the literature to collecting and analyzing data to disseminating the results provides the opportunity to learn by doing. Course-based research experiences (CUREs) are a particular model of adding research to a class as grounded by guiding key principles. This workshop will highlight varying ways in which students can engage in research through a course including CUREs and provide steps and resources for getting started or expanding what you already do.
