DAY 2 of the U.S. Civil Rights Movement Sites Symposium will focus on new ways of interpreting civil rights movement sites featuring the work of the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience (ICSC). A series of workshops will enable attendees to engage directly with the ICSC experts regarding interpretative strategies for civil rights sites. ICSC will assist attendees in developing the interpretative skill set necessary to develop dialogic questions that help visitors not only confront the challenges of a “difficult past” but also how to relate that past to pressing concerns today over justice and equality. Luncheon Speaker Lee Sentell will speak about Alabama’s successful Civil Rights Heritage Tourism.
