DESCRIPTION:Learn how to design transparent assignments to foster increased
  student learning and engagement\, leading to improved student outcomes!\n
 \nWhat is TILT?\n\nTransparent teaching methods help students understand h
 ow and why they are learning course content in particular ways. A transpar
 ent assignment has 1) a clearly defined purpose\, 2) describes thoroughly 
 the tasks students will need to perform\, and 3) explains the criteria for
  success in detail.\n\nWhy should I TILT my assignments?\n\nStudies have s
 hown that transparently designed assignments can foster increased student 
 learning and engagement\, leading to improved student outcomes—such as a
 cademic confidence\, sense of belonging\, employer-valued skills\, GPA\, a
 nd retention.*\n\nTILT as an assignment design intervention has produced p
 romising results\, especially in lower-level and gateway courses. These fi
 ndings indicate all students benefited from TILTed assignments\, but\, in 
 particular\, first-generation students\, students from low-income househol
 ds\, and non-White students showed greater benefits.\n\nWe will offer part
 icipants techniques for applying evidence-based practices that create clea
 rer assignments\, regardless of instructional modality.\n\nOpen to faculty
