The College of Education & Human Development's Alonzo A. Crim Center for Urban Educational Excellence and Georgia State University’s Jim Cherry Learning Resources Center - Clarkston Library will host a pre-Sources of Urban Educational Excellence Conference event on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 10 a.m. at the Georgia State Clarkston Student Center, CN 2240.

They will host a panel discussion on the film adaptation of “The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind: Creating Currents of Electricity and Hope” by William Kamkwamba and Bryan Mealer.* This remarkable story of a young man who used ingenuity to bring electricity to his village is available in multiple reading levels and has been adapted into a powerful film, making it an ideal choice for engaging families across generations.

Panelists for this event include Gail McFarland, a Georgia State film instructor and creator of The Film and Media Theory Navigator, and Dedren Sneed, founder and CEO of Subsume Studios.

This event is open to all Georgia State students, faculty and staff, but attendance is limited to 50 participants. To register, click here.

*Note: Please watch the Netflix film "The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind" before this event. The film will not be shown during the event; it will be discussed only.
