Study Abroad Information Session: Exploring the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language in Buenos Aires (Drop-In)
Learn more about this program from Dr. Cortes and Q & A welcomed.
Exploring the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language in Buenos Aires is a study abroad program that offers students wonderful opportunities to explore the teaching of English in various foreign language teaching contexts in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Students will spend the first days of their visit taking classes that will help them transition to their new role as observers and assessors of the Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) programs under study. Students will be guided in their observations by different discussion sessions held before the visits to the different teaching institutions. These visits will take students to various teaching centers around the city of Buenos Aires and surrounding areas, to observe how teachers who are non-native speakers of English themselves teach English (or other languages if necessary) to non-native speaker learners. Students will also have many opportunities for cultural visits to places related to the teaching of languages and cultures, such as the National Library, the Museum of Language, and the City Academy of Lunfardo in the city of Buenos Aires as well as other cultural visits that will help students learn about the historical, political, cultural, social, and economic contexts of the city of Buenos Aires and Argentina.
