The Georgia State University Symphonic Wind Ensemble honors the legacies of composers past and present with Tributes, a program dedicated to the enduring power of musical memory and craft. The concert opens with Charles Ives's Old Home Days, arranged by Elkus and conducted by Israel LaFleur — a nostalgic meditation on American life. Julianna Pinero conducts Julie Giroux's luminous One Life Beautiful, followed by Carl Holmquist's playful Play, conducted by Jacob Brown. The evening culminates in the world premiere of a new work by Gala Flagello — a landmark moment for the ensemble and for the wind band repertoire.
