This event is an opportunity for students, faculty and concerned citizens to engage in dialogue with election experts, public officials and political scientists about the challenges and opportunities we currently face in safeguarding our democracy and the rule of law. Among other things, we will hear from Republicans, Democrats, independents and nonpartisan groups about the work they are doing to ensure a free, fair and orderly election this fall. We will address many questions, including:

  • Is there a realistic threat of fraud this fall?

  • Do we need to worry about voter suppression?

  • What happens if officials do not certify the election in a timely manner?

  • What can ordinary citizens do to help protect voting rights?

  • How do our democratic troubles compare and relate to the global decline in democracy?

  • What can we do to safeguard our democracy and the rule of law now and for the future?
