About this Event
Join Cultures, Communities, and Inclusion (CCI) as we celebrate World Day for Social Justice on Tuesday, February 20th for an afternoon where art meets activism at Poetic Justice.
Poetic Justice (1993), directed by the late John Singleton, introduced a new generation to the works of poet, Maya Angelou through the lens of young people navigating the complexities of life, love and introspective learning of oneself. Over 30 years later, some of the themes that jumped out from the film, such as poverty, drugs, domestic violence, death, discrimination and other disparities impacting black and brown communities, still hold true today.
This event features the brilliant minds of trailblazers in the world of art, education, and advocacy who will share their own artistic journey and guide you through creative masterclasses to ignite your passion for activism and self-expression.
š Amplify your voice: Step into the spotlight and showcase your artistic creations.
š¤ Connect, Collaborate, Change: Beyond the stage, "Poetic Justice" is a platform for building connections. Network with like-minded individuals, collaborate on future projects, and join a community of passionate advocates who believe in the transformative power of art.
Hosted by: Black Student Achievement, Office of, Cultures, Communities & Inclusion, Latinx Student Services and Outreach (LASSO), Multicultural Center, POUNCE Rewards Program
