New South First Fridays (with Josephine Yu and Tanya Grae)

New South Georgia State University's graduate student edited journal, presents its First Friday Reading Series. The event regularly pairs Georgia State graduate student with a featured writer or poet. Join the staff at the December 6 reading, featuring Josephine Yu and Tanya Gray.

Josephine Yu is a Georgia State alum (B.A. 1998, M.F.A. 2004) and the author of Prayer Book of the Anxious, winner of the Judge’s Prize of the 15th Annual Elixir Press Poetry Awards. Her poems have appeared in such journals as Ploughshares, The Southern Review, TriQuarterly, and Crab Orchard Review. She is a three time Pushcart Prize nominee and winner of the Ploughshares 2013 Emerging Writers Contest.
 

Tanya Grae published her debut poetry book, Undoll (YesYes Books) this year. She is a former National Poetry Series finalist and her poems and essays have appeared in AGNI, Ploughshares, American Poetry Review, Prairie Schooner, The Missouri Review, Poets.org, New Ohio Review, Barrow Street, Post Road, and elsewhere. She has won two Academy of American Poets Prizes, and the Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival Poetry Prize.
