Neural Impressions
Illuminating the Brain’s Beauty Through Creativity

On view in the GSU Library North Art Gallery on the 2nd floor
May 9 - June 7

The gallery is open during all library hours.

The closing reception will be June 7, from 5-7 p.m., light refreshments served.

This exhibition of twenty Georgia State University artists, both students and faculty, represents the confluence of the visual arts and the many fields of neuroscience: neural imaging, microscopy, neuropathology, visual perception, psychedelic research, psychology, nutritional neuroscience, childhood development, anthrozoology, and more.

These artists have bridged not only disciplines but academic departments: the bulk of works on display here were created in various levels of collaboration with GSU scientists through the Brains & Behavior ArtSci Match Program, a cross-disciplinary art initiative launched by Neuroscience Ph.D. student Hannah Lichtenstein. Through this program, artists engaged with scientists to craft novel artwork about their ongoing research. The resulting works interpret, activate, and translate the important neuroscience research happening at Georgia State University for the general public.

With this exhibit, we hope to showcase the power of interdisciplinary collaboration and foster a continued relationship between the arts and the sciences at our university. Check out this post on University Library News to learn more!
