About this Event
72 Marietta Street, NW Atlanta GA 30303
Exhibition: April 8 - May 8
HOMEMAKER will have an opening reception on April 10th from 6:00 - 9:00 pm
HOMEMAKER features ceramic sculptures and installations that explore the ways domestic spaces from the suburban American South mold intimate queer life. Mold making and slipcasting processes are employed to reproduce architectural forms and kitsch objects that saturate southern suburban domestic landscapes. Through the act of mold making, what emerges is a dual conceptual analogy of how have queer people have continuously molded themselves into spaces of domesticity, and prevailing ideas of normalcy, to protect themselves, find community, and create spaces in which they can continue to exist.
