The College of Education & Human Development's Alonzo A. Crim Center for Urban Educational Excellence will host its annual Juneteenth celebration on June 16, 2026, from 1-4 p.m. in the Creative Media Industries Institute's Screening Room (25 Park Pl. NE, Suite 306, Atlanta, GA 30303). 

Georgia State graduate and author D. Danyelle Thomas will be the featured speaker. 

The celebration will focus on the theme "EmpowerED: Wellness, Wholeness and Innovation for Every Learner." Attendees will participate in a libation ceremony, a film viewing, a critical conversation with the featured speaker and a group activity to commemorate Freedom Day. 

Lunch will be provided. 

This event is free to attend, but registration is required. To register, fill out and submit this form. The first 20 people to register will receive a free copy of Thomas's book.
