Introduction to Foam Armor: Did you know that you can make costumes out of floor mats? Have you ever wanted to make your own foam armor but don’t know where to start? Then this is the presentation for you! EVA foam is a cheap and versatile material that the pros are using to craft some of your favorite costumes. We will walk through the basic techniques used when making foam armor. This includes: tools, materials, cutting, gluing, refining, priming, painting, and adding attachments. All of these steps are so important to helping you create your costume. Whether you’re a veteran cosplayer or beginner, this refresher course will help refine your skills for your next big build!
Introduction to Foam Armor will be taught by guest maker Emily Schmidt.
Emily Schmidt, also known as Go Big or Go Home Cosplay, is from Atlanta, Georgia. She likes to make costumes and props in her free time. Emily has won awards for Craftsmanship Competitions in the Masters/Professional and Journeyman levels at local conventions. Her most praised accomplishment includes competing and winning her episode on Cosplay Melee, SyFy's cosplay competition show.
