We all look for life hacks to make difficult things easier! So, when hackathons came to be, this premise was taken to app developers to create technological solutions to all kinds of day-to-day, corporate, and eventually even social, problems. Sure, tech will forever be a part of all that we do, but techies can't have all the fun! So, the Social Action Alliance created a multidisciplinary Hack 4 Good (-athon) to bring problem solving to all kinds of thinkers, and yes, tech is still included!
This year’s theme is transportation. Walking, cycling, taking the bus, or even riding scooter all get us from one place to another, but how can traveling in downtown Atlanta be better...for all? This socially conscious campus competition tasks you to collaborate with others and propose practical plans toward solving complex social issues.
Our Hack 4 Good welcomes all Georgia State undergraduates, from any school or college, to engage in categories of problem solving that fit your skillsets and/or major: (1) media, (2) government/corporate policy, (3) consumer products, (4) apps & platforms, (5) creative arts.
Event sponsors include MARTA, Chick-Fil A, State Farm, and more! The transportation-centered community partners, along with faculty of multiple disciplines, will advise your teams over the weekend, as you work towards new innovations, based on your strengths. There will also be opportunities to network with partner Human Resources professionals about internships and jobs.
