Ethics Bowl is a competition in which teams discuss various responses to difficult ethical, legal and policy issues. Teams can agree or disagree and are scored based on how deeply they explore the issues, including various viewpoints.

  • Development of chatbots (‘deathbots’) built from the texts of people who have died
  • State laws limiting cell phone use in public schools
  • Prison sentence reductions for donating organs
  • Laws specifically against killing women (femicide)
  • Paying for the right to immigrate (“golden passports”)
  • Animal welfare in tests to develop neural implants that may benefit paralyzed individuals
  • Prosecuting parents for contributing to the violent crimes of their children

Listen in as some of the brilliant minds of Georgia State’s Ethics Bowl Team debate key societal issues facing us today.
