Alphabet Redacted brings together a dynamic group of Atlanta LGBTQIA+ photographers whose work expands the possibilities of contemporary photography. The exhibition title speaks to the many failed attempts throughout history, including today, to erase LGBTQIA+ lives and stories. Here, those experiences are visible and celebrated in their complexity and presence.

Featuring a wide range of analog and digital photographic processes, the show also includes video, sculpture, and artist books. It embraces a broad definition of contemporary photography that mirrors queerness itself: a way of seeing and living outside socially expected binaries. Participating artists Haylee Anne, Jason Arel-Klein, Nydia Blas, David Clifton-Strawn, Cindy Elizabeth, Ross Landenberger, Montenez Lowery, Madison Nunes, Keamber Pearson, Tatum Shaw, Royce Soble, Parker Thornton, and Lynsey Weatherspoon reflect the diverse ways photographers in Atlanta are approaching their work today.

Curated by Charlotte Woolf, Alphabet Redacted is on view at Georgia State University's Perimeter College Clarkston Campus in the Fine Arts Gallery.
