Bring your own fabric and join the EXLAB community to learn how to sew witch hats!

This workshop is only open to Georgia State University students, faculty, and staff.

About this Event

Come join the EXLAB staff and community for a witch hat making workshop! Whether you’re a beginner or more experienced sewist, a spooky workshop like this is a fun and simple way to get to know a sewing machine and a few staples of fabric crafting. Together, we’ll be sewing a reversible witch hat just in time for spooky season!

We will be using a pattern by @arinicocosplay on Instagram, and assembling the whole thing together, from cutting to topstitching; however, you must know how to operate a sewing machine to attend.

This workshop has few things that need to be taken care of before participation.Required materials are:

  • 1 yard of your main fabric
  • 1 yard of a contrast or lining fabric
  • Thread
  • Buckram or heavy interfacing (EXLAB can provide this)
  • 2 Yards of 1 or 2-inch ribbon (optional)
  • 2 Yards of 1/2 inch bias tape (optional)

EXLAB provides:

  • Sewing machines
  • Irons and ironing boards
  • Cutting mats, scissors, and rotary cutters
  • The witch hat template/pattern we will be using for the workshop

This workshop will take approximately three hours, but has the possibility of running longer depending on the amount of attendants.
