About this Event
Faculty, staff and graduate students are invited to the 2025 Public Interest Communications Summer Institute, hosted by the Public Interest Communications Educators Network, the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications and the Georgia State University Department of Communication. This gathering, which will be held at Georgia State University June 3-5, brings together educators, researchers and practitioners to learn and share knowledge about public interest communications.
The title of this year’s institute is “Rekindling Progress in a Polarized World.” The institute consists of a day and a half of workshops and small panel discussions, as well as opportunities for grad students to discuss and present research and to meet professionals during a career networking session. We also offer a public interest communications primer for those new to the discipline.
Because we are in Atlanta, we’ll have several health-related sessions, including a Q&A with Abbigail Tumpey, who ran communications for the CDC in the second year of the pandemic. She’ll facilitate a workshop on public health crisis communications, too.
Registration is $120 for faculty and staff, and the suggested graduate student rate is $50.
