Bring your lunch and join us for a FREE live performance featuring vocalist Brenda Nicole Moorer. SoulBounce describes Moorer’s voice as “a sweet sound like a blend between Minnie Riperton and Corinne Bailey Rae.” Brenda fuses jazz, soul, and folk elements into her songwriting, crafting songs with a quiet ache and intriguing pull. Winner of the 2017 Creative Loafing Best Soul & Jazz Vocalist award, the Atlanta-bred songstress has already graced stages alongside some jazz heavy hitters like Christian McBride, Brandon Williams, Julie Dexter, and Roy Ayers. Brenda’s music has garnered attention from tastemaker Gilles Peterson, DJ Jamal Ahmad, Ebony Magazine, Afroelle, SoulBounce, Singersroom, AFROPUNK, and SoulTracks. Her latest album, “Brand New Heart”, landed her a licensing deal with Japan’s P-Vine Records.
Moorer’s brand of music is both refreshing and vintage, like a quiet gardenscape of secret passages, situated somewhere between sunrise and heartbreak. Moorer works closely with Brooklyn based keyboardist/producer Jesse Fischer. Together, they released the EP, “For Lovers & Believers,” presenting music with a positive message, simple melodies atop laid back rhythms, heavy Rhodes, and underlying synths. Brenda’s latest album, Brand New Heart was co-written by keyboardist Kenny Banks Jr and Jesse Fischer embarking on a full length album which features Chris Turner from Snarky Puppy’s Family Dinner. Her latest work landed her on Good Day Atlanta twice, and often singing for Atlanta’s Office of Arts & Cultural affairs events. Currently, Brenda is touring with her four piece band and performs regularly in Atlanta and New York.
Brenda is a graduate of SCAD Masters degree program. As an arts advocate, she also contributes to the arts community to advance the arts in metro Atlanta and is an alumni of the Arts Leaders of Metro Atlanta (ALMA) 2016. She has worked with nonprofits such as New York Philharmonic, Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theatre, and Center for Puppetry Arts in continuing the arts in our communities.
Food will not be served at this event.
